On August 19 and 20 of 2015, I had been to Raipur. This was my first ever visit to Chhattisgarh and I was quite excited about it. Though on a work visit, I was thrilled to explore a new city and a new state. Being used to the hectic travel and busy work schedules, I did not have a long list to explore at Raipur. Since my typical schedule is 8-10 hours of work, then exploring the city in the evening and coming to the hotel late night to sleep, I do not bother much about the hotel. Just that it should be good, accessible and such that I do not get bugged by it.
Internet has taken our country by its awe and that includes me too. I went on to Google and searched a place to stay at Raipur. By the results, I understood that not many websites list this city and the ones which list do not have a lot of reviews. Or rather, credible reviews. The most exhaustive website I found was Stayzilla and hence decided to book via it. This was my first ever experience with this website. I had read a lot about it in the past but never experienced.
Within minutes, I got a wide range of options and then I was to choose the hotel. I do not know whether those pictures convinced me or those dicey reviews, but I decided to book Hotel Sudha Regency for a night. Now, let me give my frank review of it.
Hotel Sudha Regency, Raipur
Location : 4 out of 5
Sleep Quality : 2 out of 5
Rooms : 2 out of 5
Service : 3 out of 5
Value : 3 out of 5
Cleanliness : 1 out of 5
Comments – The rooms were unclean. You can see the dirt piled on the corners of the room. The bathroom had the dirt stuck on the tiles. The A/C made a lot of noise. The TV volume fluctuated by itself. The WiFi was a shame, even my 2G worked faster than it. And their breakfast had just 3 items and was priced Rs. 175 plus taxes. At this price, you can eat twice opposite the Railway Station at Raipur (there is an amazing South Indian Cafe, I forgot the name).
Stayzilla
Ease of booking : 5 out of 5
Conceirge service : 5 out of 5
Reliability : Let me not rate them on this. Probably this hotel was a genuine disaster.
Will book again : Yes
Will soon post a blog on the places I explored at Raipur.
Hope my next booking on Stayzilla isn’t such a mess. I did not intend to blog on this because I generally believe in spreading positive news. But well, it is positive to make travellers aware of bad hotels, right? 🙂
