Too many R’s in the headline, isn’t it?
I had heard about ‘Red Raas’ few years ago while I was doing my MBA at Symbiosis. In a ‘Dandiya Night’ event there, a trendy Garba song was playing which saw all kinds of my friends – boys, girls, Gujju’s, non-Gujju’s, stalkers, players etc. dancing on it. The last two categories are exclusively seen in colleges and if you do not know of them, you have surely missed out on a lot of fun in college. That ‘happening’ Garba song even saw people who considered Garba to be an ‘uncool’ dance form tapping their feet, letting themselves loose and joining it. It was a matter of pride for me to see people grooving to the beats played during my favorite festival, miles away from the homeland. ‘Moj Paddi Gayi Hati’
Last evening my visit to #RedRaas6 audio launch was a trip down the memory lane. The event was at ‘Rangilu’ Rajkot and I too was in that city. The prefix ‘Rangilu’ to Rajkot will make sense to you only if you have been to Gujarat. And if you haven’t, kuchh din toh guzaaro Gujarat mei! For the sixth consecutive year, the Red FM team of Gujarat has come up with 9 unique Garba song’s which will be played during Navratri on their radio stations, and perhaps numerous times in the years to come by the people of Gujarat. And all Navratri enthusiasts around the globe.
The energy last evening in the Red FM team was outstanding. I have been to several corporate and entertainment launches, and haven’t seen this kind of energy. What I intend to say by energy is the excitement, involvement and the personal connect of the RJ’s and the Red FM team towards the event. There was no dull moment in the entire event of 4 hours. Their ownership for the event was evident and that kept the audience enthralled in the whole episode.
The event kicked off by an introduction by RJ Dhrumil. I’ve heard him few times on the radio, majorly when I am driving back from Rajkot to Ahmedabad. Not because I am busy the other times, but it is because he goes live from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on the “Red FM Morning No.1” show at Rajkot. Dhrumil as an emcee in the event was mesmerizing. His voice and his delivery of speech keeps people wanting for more. I wonder what he is doing at ‘Rangilu’ Rajkot. He can lend his voice to the top brands or may be even try his luck for voice-overs at Bollywood. May be it is the ‘Rangilu’ prefix that is keeping him there.
Before I could zero down on Dhrumil’s connection to Rajkot, the event had moved ahead and Tushar Shukla Ji had graced the evening. I don’t know what’s with him and me (actually there is nothing but kuchh toh superlative usage banta hai). I have now met him thrice in the past 10 days. One was at a Book Launch in Ahmedabad, then during the premier show of “Bas Ek Chance” at Ahmedabad, and now in this event. After Tushar Ji’s address to the audience and the thunderous applause which he received (a little more than Dhrumil but hey, this is not a Physics class where I have to apply the Theory of Relativity), the event moved ahead. RJ Devaki then addressed the audience and with her engagement activity of “who claps the hardest”, the already excited audience got more energized for the event. RJ Devaki hosts the “Red FM Morning No.1” show at Ahmedabad and is one of the most popular RJ’s of the state. Either it is the Ahmedabad traffic or her fan following or both (actually it is her voice and RJ’ing skills) that she is loved by the listeners. And praised by the critics (this is picked up from her Twitter bio but utna toh chalta hai na?). Probably someday I will get her viewpoint on the Motivational Section of my Blog and get you all to know as to how to build a career in the Radio, and her journey till now.
‘Arre maavo kaadho ke nahi?’
Before I could decipher RJ Devaki’s popularity reason, the ‘Daayro’ team started their performance.
It will be wrong of me to tell you all of the Garba song’s that were launched post this. ‘Thoduk toh secret hovu joiyye ne?’ But trust me, there is a lot of hardwork that they have put in and it is surely going to get you a hormonal imbalance. (I mean only in terms of Garba steps, theek chhe dirty mind?)
It was also great meeting Mr. Hemang Dave (a popular Gujarati actor), Mr. Sanjay Rathod (Director, SMMS) and Mr. Mukul Jani (Writer and Film-Maker) at the event. There were a lot more RJ’s and prominent people of the city, but I could not meet them all. (Just trying to hide the fact that I left the event early)
The #RedRaas6 audio will be launched today at Vadodara and on the 11th September 2015 at ‘Aapnu Amdavad’. I might be at Mumbai on the 11th, but if am back to Ahmedabad and get a chance to witness the launch, do NOT expect one more blog okay?
‘Arre, just kidding karu chho ho! Lakhva nuj hoy ne :)’
Anne ek vaat kav? “Bajaaaatteee Rahoooo!”
