I love cars. I am fond of Goa. I am a passionate writer. What if these 3 are combined? That defines my #FANTASTICO moment! And I was fortunate enough to live this moment on December 5-6, 2015. TATA Motors had a pre-launch of their upcoming car Zica, for 60 top bloggers of India, at Goa. I was a part of this experience and it was one of the finest weekends of 2015. And to top it all, it was my birthday weekend!
This #FANTASTICO weekend started a little earlier, precisely on late evening of December 4, 2015 when I was flown from Ahmedabad to Mumbai. This I would say was a shortfall in the arrangements of TATA Motors and/or the IndiBlogger team (the point of contact for us Bloggers). My flight from Mumbai to Goa was on the 5th December 2015 at 11.35 a.m. and thus I was stranded alone in Mumbai for more than 15 hours. Despite of my repeated e-mails and phone calls, no one re-scheduled my flight. I requested all the while to give me a morning flight on December 5, 2015 or a hotel stay on December 4, 2015; but well, nothing happened. This was the worst start to the #FANTASTICO weekend but then I was more excited for the car, Goa and meeting new blogger buddies, so did not create a mess. Hope this is taken as a positive feedback by the organizers and a suitable corrective action is taken the next time.
Anyways, let us come to the main point now. There were a lot of us who flew from Mumbai to Goa in the flight I mentioned above and it felt nice to make friends in the air. The mess up by TATA Motors and/or IndiBlogger had already vanished and I promised myself not to mention it anymore, except on this blog post. As we landed in Goa, there was a registration desk at the airport and there was a warm welcome by Wizcraft and IndiBlogger team. We were transferred to Hotel Alila Diwa, which was our stay for this weekend.
After a quick lunch, we went to the Majorda Beach. A lot of us started taking group pics, selfies, snapchat stories and random videos. I can safely say that there were more cameras than the number of bloggers out there, which shows how social-media-freak we are these days, but then that is not the point of discussion. We started playing beach football and it was extreme fun. I would not go into its details and let the picture talk for the fun we had.
Returning back to our hotel, after freshening up, we had a bloggers interaction meet, followed by a presentation by the TATA Motors team. The surprise element was the anchor Cyrus Sahukar and I could see a lot of bloggers going crazy seeing him. In no time, the excitement of the car was replaced by excitement to take a pic with Cyrus but then that’s ok – everyone has their own perspective. The car was launched to us in a spectacular way and we were left to see it for over an hour and have a discussion with the technical team out there. This was followed by dinner with a karaoke night. I am not a fan of English songs and it was kind of disappointing to not hear Bollywood songs.
The next day started early, around 7 A.M. Waking up this early on a Sunday, and that too on birthday, is not what I do but then was the #FANTASTICO weekend. Moreover, I posted a blog that morning and then began my day. After the breakfast, we went to the hotel lobby where the cars were flagged off. There were 20 cars – 10 petrol and 10 diesel. The 60 of us were divided into 3 per car. I drove a petrol car and had the amazing company of Anks and Shrikrishna Parab. They were both Bollywood freaks and it was a delightful experience with them in the whole ride. We stopped at various scenic locations and took pics. Moreover, we also did tasks given to us via Twitter. Sharing a pic of our ride.
Now, the tech aspects of the car.
All this is fine, you will learn at the showroom as well. Most important part is that the car is fun to drive and is definitely value for money. Errr wait, let us wait for the pricing part. Post that, I can say if it will give you the right ROI. But in any case, this car has the potential to be a game changer for TATA Motors!
