Not very long ago, we had to stand in long queues in our banks to deposit and withdraw money. The ATM and internet banking has revolutionized this. With advanced technologies and customer centric approaches, one can now open a bank account from the luxury of their home and operate it with few clicks on our smart-phones. A lot of people now do not visit their bank branches for years altogether! I myself do not know where my bank branch is located! A similar revolution has been seen in e-wallets. Few years ago, people found online payments a risky affair, and now, people are addicted and used to paying by their e-wallets. Many of my friends keep thousands of rupees in their e-wallets for its convenience and ease of use. I won’t be surprised if in few years, using cash will become a rare sight, for using financial services by online platforms is becoming the trend everywhere. The Life Insurance sector is also witnessing a similar revolution, with several insurance companies offering Life Insurance products to their customers online making it a hassle free process. I dedicated the past Sunday to browse various plans of these insurance companies and when I ended up on the HDFC Life website, its features stumbled me and I found it wise to tell you all about it.

When you go to their website, they ask for few basic details and recommend the best plan for us, instead of the traditional approach where the customer researches a plan and goes to buy it. Also on the screen of the above mentioned link, there is chat-support where one can have a live chat with the e-agent and clear all queries in real time from the convenience of our homes! So no need to beat the traffic or wait in the long telephonic queues to get your queries resolved. They have perfectly justified the title ‘Click to Insure’!

One more feature which I loved was the co browsing feature. When I finally decided the insurance plan, I started the buying procedure. Compared to the other life insurers, here I did not have to fill the form myself. There was a customer service executive who was filling the form and both of us could see the filling part live on our screens with a real-time interaction. It felt like an agent sitting across the table at our home! I believe that life insurance is an emotional product to purchase, and needs a personal touch for the buyer. This personal touch has been effectively given by HDFC Life by their co browsing feature.

Apart from these, HDFC Life has a brilliant policy tracker feature. Though I haven’t used it yet, the testimonies of friends and relatives has been positive. This means that one can track the policy issuance, payment of premiums, managing of funds and filing of claims in a click of a button! So no need to call your agent, or visit the branch or even worry about the Sundays and festival holidays!

India is definitely witnessing a digital revolution right now, and I’m glad that the Life Insurance space has got the right boost as well. #YehBhiOnline
